This Scholarship is for African American Highschoolers in Hernando County And/or Student at Pasco Hernando State College, With academic skills, who may have limited financial resources.
By providing assistance through the awarding of scholarship(s) to enable them to pursue post-secondary education. The African American Club of Hernando, Inc. will award two $1,000.00 scholarships in 2018.

John Oswald Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a Hernando County graduating senior who also graduated form Challenger K8. The student chosen for this award should represent the values, ideals, and character displayed by Mr. Oswald – integrity, determination, upstanding moral character, and a positive attitude.

Please submit the following information with your application:

  • Choice of career, profession or vocation and the name and address of the school you plan to attend.  Please attach a copy of your acceptance letter, if possible.
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from a school official and one from someone that is not school related.
  • Resume of your extracurricular activities and accomplishments at Challenger, as well as your particular high school.
  • Short essay explaining how Challenger prepared you for success in high school.
  • Recent picture of yourself.
All parts of the application must be completed before the applicant will be considered for a scholarship (only completed applications will be accepted). Applications (links provided below) must be completed and submitted to Cathy Beckwith at Challenger K8 no later than Monday, April 30, 2018.

Wedding Retouching Scholarship Program

The requirements for this Scholarship are:
  • A motivated participant should be either accepted into the educational institution or must be attending a university or college.
  • A student must hold currently a 3.0 GPA or even higher.
  • A participant should graduate with an official diploma from a high school

All applications must be created and essays must be uploaded by April 24th, 2018.

This award valued at $2000, is awarded to two students who will be successful in the writing the essay.  

Lucky winners will be announced on the 1st of May, 2018.

Latinos Unidos Social Club Scholarship

The Latinos Unidos Social Club is offering a scholarship with the purpose to assist Hispanic heritage students in Hernando County high schools who are planning to pursue a college degree. 
Students must complete the application (link provided below), provide official transcripts in a sealed envelope, and submitted in a folder to your guidance office no later than April 25th of that current year.
All requirements must be met in order for your application to be considered.If you have any questions contact your guidance counselor, they will contact a member of the Scholarship Committee.

The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Scholarship

Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. The requirements include:
-Association with the Order Sons of Italy in America is not a prerequisite; however the applicant must be of Italian descent and a resident of Hernando County, Florida
- Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (un-weighted)
- Applicants must have a minimum SAT total score of 1100 -or- must have an ACT Composite score of 23.
- Recipients must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited junior college, college or university and must enroll immediately following graduation from a High School in Hernando County, Florida.

The Hernando County Bar Association Scholarship 2018

Requirements for this Scholarship are listed below:
  • Applicant must be a Hernando County resident.  
  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time or parttime at a Florida College or University currently or by the fall semester of 2018. 
  • Applicant must be interested in pursuing a career in law or a law-related field (including law enforcement and paralegal studies)

Disney College Program

  Disney College Program

The Disney College Program is a 4-6 month internship program located at the Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, FL and the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, CA. This program has three key components - Living, Learning, and Earning:
  • EARNING: Participants work in front-line roles in our Theme Parks and Resorts, gaining real world experience and exposure to the operations of a Fortune 500 company.
  • LEARNING: Participants take part in college-level coursework and may have the opportunity to earn college credit.

Florida State University Service Scholar Program

The Service Scholar Program is a four-year, comprehensive, co-curricular program. Service Scholars will complete a minimum of 75 service hours per semester (45 hours for first-semester first-year students), participate in individual and group service projects, attend regular meetings, engage in coursework tailored to each year in the program, and promote community participation among their peers. The program includes an annual $2,400 scholarship, which is automatically renewed each year, provided requirements are met.

The Florida JCI awards two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors.  An additional $1000 scholarship is awarded for students in financial need.
